Had to pick between a La Marzocco Linea Mini and a Nuova Simonelli Appia two years ago
I went with the Appia for my shop in Silver Lake because it could handle the morning rush better, and honestly it's been a workhorse, but I still wonder if the Linea Mini would have changed my workflow for slow afternoons - anyone else made a similar choice and regretted it?

That line about polishing chrome instead of fiddling with a shiny new toy hit close to home, cause I do the same thing during lulls. But here's what I keep coming back to, do you actually miss the workflow of the Linea Mini, or do you just miss the idea of owning something that pretty? Cause those are two totally different regrets, and one of them fades fast while the other one eats at you. I've seen folks trade in perfectly good machines just cause they got bored, then realize the new one doesn't pull shots any better. So what's the real pull for you, the routine change or just the status of having a Mini sitting on the counter?

The Appia is basically a tank with a steam wand attached, so I can't really complain. My only regret is that my slow afternoons are now spent polishing chrome instead of fiddling with a shiny new toy. Guess I'll just cry into my perfectly consistent espresso.
