Found out my local roaster uses a 20 year old drum machine and it blew my mind
Was at a cafe owners meetup in Pasadena last Tuesday and the guy from a popular roastery casually mentioned their main drum roaster was built in 2004. I figured they had some fancy new $50k setup but nope, it's this beat up old thing they keep patching with parts from eBay. He said their maintenance guy just knows the machine inside out and it actually gives them a more consistent roast than the new digital ones. They only paid $3k for it back then. Anyone else running ancient gear that just works?

Antique but still works though. Meanwhile my coffee maker has been acting up since the last update.
