Fair trade mandate split my regulars into two camps last month

My head barista in Echo Park said we should drop the cheap beans for a $18 per pound fair trade blend, but a regular who comes in every day argued that barely covers a third of the cup price and asks why we don't charge extra for the ethics, so which side do you tell the customer is right when both of them buy 4 cups a day?

Honestly, both camps got a point, but the real cost is just what your regulars will actually pay without grumbling.
