Appreciation post: that $300 water filtration system I almost skipped

Back in 2019 I opened my spot on Main Street and thought tap water was fine. Three years later I kept getting this weird aftertaste in my cold brew, so I finally spent $300 on a decent under sink filter. Best money I've ever spent, my repeat customers noticed the difference within a week. On the flip side, my buddy at the shop two blocks over bought a $1,500 commercial system and it clogged up in 4 months because he never changed the pre filter. Anyone else had a cheap fix punch way above its weight?
