Warning: I switched to a 12ft ladder from a 6ft step and it changed how I run my truck
So about 6 months ago I had a job out in a older suburb where every drop was up over the garage and about 14 feet off the ground. I was running a little 6 foot step ladder and doing that sketchy thing where you stand on the top cap and lean way out to reach the hook. After the third house my shoulder was toast and I almost ate it off the side twice. I sat in the truck for a minute and asked myself why I keep dragging the small ladder when a 12 footer would let me work flat footed all day. Picked up a used fiberglass 12ft from a guy off a job board for $110 and it barely fits the rack but man. First day back out I did 9 drops in the same time it used to take me to do 6 and I wasnt wiped out at the end. The only downside is it's heavier and eats more room, but I'd rather lift a little more than fall off a roof edge. Anyone else running a taller ladder as their main or are you all still mixing sizes?
