Took me 6 months to realize my compression fittings were backwards
Been doing residential drops for a living since March. Every single time I terminated a connector I'd twist the compression ring on before the nut. Thought that was normal. Last Tuesday a senior guy watched me on a rework job in Mesa and just laughed. He flipped my connector over and showed me the ring goes in the nut first. I wasted maybe 200 fittings and an hour a day on re-crimps. Anyone else learn a basic step this late from a coworker or did I just miss the training memo?

No dice on the training memo, man, that one missed you by a mile. I feel for you on the 200 fittings though, that stings. But hey, at least you caught it after six months and not six years like some old timers I know. The ring in the nut first is pretty much the whole game, once you see it you can't unsee it. We all have that one dumb thing a senior guy had to fix for us. Consider it your initiation fee.
