That $400 cable toner with GPS tracking was a total waste

Bought one of those fancy toners that supposedly maps out cable runs through walls and saves you hours on every job. Spent $400 on it after seeing a demo at a trade show in Denver. Took it on three installs and it gave me wrong readings twice, sent me chasing lines that did not exist. Ended up using my old $60 toner and a probe to find everything in half the time. Anyone else get burned by high-end locating gear, or did I just get a lemon?

Man thats rough. Demo gear always works perfect and real life says otherwise. I had a similar thing with an expensive underground locator that kept picking up old utility lines instead of the live ones. Traded it for a basic clamp meter and never looked back. $400 for a fancy paperweight with GPS is just insult to injury. Get your money back if you can. Sometimes the cheap stuff just works because its simple.
