Still wrap my service drops with electrical tape from 2010, but the new compression fittings changed my whole game in Phoenix last month

Back then I'd strip and crimp 20 fittings a day without a second thought, now I use the compression style with the little O-ring and it took me 3 jobs to stop fighting the torque specs, has anyone else found these easier on fiber or is it just my old habits?

Wait, is that the same trick electricians were passing around a few years back about tape holding up better in dry heat? I heard from a lineman buddy that the compression fittings with the O-rings are actually made for the UV out here, not just the torque game. He said the old crimp style would get brittle after a few summers, which is why you saw so many callbacks on service drops around 2015 or so. I switched to the compression ones myself after reading about a failed crimp causing a whole neighborhood flicker in a trade magazine, and yeah, the torque specs are a pain until you get the feel for them. Once you trust the click instead of fighting it, they go in way faster, especially on the tight spots where a crimper won't fit.
