Spent 3 hours trying to fish a coax through a finished wall in Denver before I figured out the fire block was metal

Oh man, that is the absolute worst. I spent an entire weekend once trying to run cable through my own basement ceiling before I realized there was a metal fire block hidden behind the drywall. I had already cut three holes in the wrong spots because I was convinced I could just drill right through wherever I wanted. By the time I figured it out, I had a bunch of holes to patch and a sore shoulder from the drill. The metal blocks are a real pain because you cant just drill or sawzall through them easily without making a huge mess. I feel your pain for sure.

You're saying the metal blocks are the problem, but honestly, they're doing exactly what they're supposed to do - keep a fire from spreading through your walls. I'd rather spend a weekend patching holes than have my house burn down because I cut corners on fire safety.

Brother, I feel that pain deep in my soul. Those metal fire blocks are like the universe's way of saying "you picked the wrong weekend for this project." I've been there with the multiple holes and the sore shoulder - spent a whole Saturday on a similar job last year, kept thinking I just needed to angle the drill bit a little different. Ended up with a wall that looked like swiss cheese and a brand new respect for whoever designed those stupid metal plates. Makes you want to just run the cable on the outside of the wall and call it a day.
