Saw four crews fighting over one pole on Maple St and the whole block learned something about tagging
Was doing a drop at 214 Maple St last Tuesday and watched three other vans pull up on the same block within 20 minutes. Turns out nobody tagged the pedestal after the last crew opened it, so two guys spent 40 minutes pulling slack that was already run while a fourth was up the pole redoing a bond that was fine. I started writing the date and my initials on a strip of tape inside every box I touch now, and the next guy on that block actually called to say thanks. How are you all keeping track of who was where without calling the office every time?
Tape inside the box is smart but it only helps the next guy who opens it. What saved us was a group text for the whole yard. Every crew drops a pin and a one liner when they close out a spot, like "214 Maple, bond done, drop set" so nobody rolls up blind. Takes ten seconds and beats calling the office. We also snap a pic of the open box with the meter reading, so if a tag goes missing the picture still tells the story.
