Raccoon chewed through my drop line in Duluth at 6am
Last Tuesday I pulled up to a service call in Duluth and found the customer's line dead, traced it back to a raccoon that had shredded the coax right at the weather boot, probably hunting the signal drip. I patched it up with a new connector and some waterproof tape but that little guy came back later that night and tore it open again before I even finished my paperwork. Anyone else dealing with animals targeting the same spot twice and what do you use to keep them off, like pepper spray or something?}

Oh boy, that raccoon sounds like it's got your number. I had a similar problem with squirrels at my place, they kept coming back to the same spot no matter what I did. What finally worked for me was wrapping the drop line in that metal mesh tubing they sell for rodent proofing, plus I sprayed the area with a hot pepper wax spray from the garden store. The trick is you have to reapply the spray after it rains, which is a pain, but after about two weeks they gave up and moved on to easier pickings. Also, make sure there's no food source nearby, because if they're eating something around there, they'll keep coming back just for that.
