I just hit 500 attic crawls this month and it made me rethink my gear

My old headlamp kept dying after two hours, but switching to a Petzl Actik Core got me through a full eight-hour shift in a Dayton split-level. Anyone have a better knee pad for those tight joist spaces?

Those gel-filled Pro-Knees saved my joints last summer.

Wait, but what about building up your own strength instead of relying on gear? I had a pair of those and they made my knees feel weaker over time, like my muscles didn't have to work as hard. No offense to @lopez.karen, I'm glad they helped you, but for me it felt like a shortcut that backfired. I ditched them and just focused on better form and taking real breaks, and my knees feel way better now without any extra stuff.

Honestly seems like a lot of fuss over garden kneepads. Tbh my cousin just uses an old folded towel and he's fine for hours. Maybe @lopez.karen has a tougher job, but for most weekend stuff it feels like overkill. Ngl half the gear out there just preys on people worrying about normal aches. Save your cash and just move around more instead of staying in one spot.
