I finally understood the value of car stock after a remote install
Last week, I had a job at a cabin by a lake, far from any shops. I almost ran out of coaxial connectors near the end. Good thing I keep extra parts in my car's console. It saved me from a two-hour round trip and let me finish on time.

Wait, did you really just call a two hour trip for a connector "not the end of the world"? On a remote job, that can blow your whole schedule and kill your profit for the day. That drive isn't just about time, it's burning gas and pushing the finish into dark or bad weather. My car stock isn't clutter, it's a tiny insurance policy that pays off exactly in situations like that cabin job.

But honestly, hauling around a trunk full of connectors just invites clutter... Most of that stuff sits there for years without getting used. If you plan your kit for each job, you rarely come up short, and a quick parts run isn't the end of the world. It turns your car into a rolling junk drawer for no good reason.
