Got called out for a messy attic run in a 100-year-old house
I was in this old place in Cincinnati, pulling coax through a tight attic space. The existing lines were a total rat's nest, and I just shoved my new line through the same hole to save time. The homeowner, an older guy who used to be an electrician, came up and said 'son, that's how fires start.' He was right. I spent the next hour clearing out the old junk and using proper clamps. Anyone else get called on a shortcut by a customer who actually knew their stuff?

Okay, but "that's how fires start" feels like a stretch for some coax lines. It's low voltage stuff. The real issue is it being messy and a pain for the next guy. That old electrician was right about doing clean work, but calling it a fire hazard in an attic with old cloth wire already up there? That's being a bit dramatic.
