Fiber drop failures in the rain, am I the only one seeing this?
Last Tuesday we had a heavy downpour around Charlotte and three separate fiber drops on new builds went dark within an hour. I traced them all back to water getting into the connector housings, even though we used the standard gel wraps and caps. My crew argues it's the cheap connectors from the supplier, but I think it's the way we're routing the drip loops, making a small bend that holds water. Has anyone else fought this after a storm, and did you switch to a different connector brand or change your mounting method?
