Can we talk about these new fiber optic connectors breaking on me?

I was out on a job in Oakland last Tuesday running a fresh drop for a new customer. The connector snapped right off the cable while I was crimping it, and I hadn't even tightened the nut yet. These are the pre-terminated ones from the big box store, not the field-install stuff I usually get from the supply house. Has anyone else had trouble with these newer push-on style connectors failing on you like this?

Join the club, I've had two of those push-on connectors fail on me this month alone. They look great in the package but as soon as you put any pressure on them they're just a mess waiting to happen. Honestly, I'd rather spend an extra 30 seconds on the old school twist-on style than deal with that frustration again.

@murphy.blair it is wild how unreliable they get once you actually test them under real conditions lol. Bet part of the problem is that they sell them as a one size fits all solution but wires vary enough that the connection is never truly solid. Give me a good old wire nut any day even if it takes a few more seconds.

Can't believe you've lost two in a month. That's insane. I get that they're supposed to be faster but failing that often just isn't worth it.
