Tried Dutching crown molding on a job in Richmond last week vs. coping it and there's no contest
Dutching looked clean in theory but after fighting with 3 joints for an hour and a half I went back to coping and finished the whole room in 45 minutes has anyone else found coping just works better no matter what the new guys say?

Blew a gasket trying to Dutch for the first time last month. Thought I was being smart and modern but my miter saw had other plans. Three joints later I was ready to throw the whole piece across the garage. Coping just lets you finesse those inside corners without losing your mind. I'm not exactly a pro but I've learned that sometimes the old way is the way. My fingers are still raw from that dutching experiment.

The same pattern shows up everywhere - new tools and techniques promise to save time but end up costing you more of it than the proven methods. Coping is like a sharp kitchen knife, simple and effective, while Dutching is like a fancy gadget that takes forever to clean.

Is it weird that this same thing keeps popping up in totally different parts of life? I was setting up a smart thermostat last month and spent three hours messing with an app and wifi connections just to get it to work. Meanwhile, I could have just walked over and turned a dial in two seconds flat. It feels like we're all getting sold on these fancy new ways to do stuff that promise to be "better" but really just add extra steps and frustration. Coping, old school thermostats, even using a paper map instead of GPS sometimes - the simple methods just work without all the headache. I guess what I'm saying is there's a real value in knowing when to stick with what's proven instead of chasing every new thing that comes along.
