The cabinetmaker who told me to stop sanding between coats of polyurethane

Old guy named Joe at the local hardware store said I was wasting my time and it actually makes the finish grab dirt. Tried it on a kitchen job last month and the surface came out way smoother with less effort, anyone else skip that step?

Did you notice less dust nibs in the final coat too? I stopped sanding between coats a year ago and my poly finishes have never looked better.

Funny you mention it, I stopped waxing my floors last year and my dog still slides into walls.
