Switched from pocket screws to full dados on my shop cabinets 6 months ago, and I am torn on whether it was worth it
My face frames and boxes from 2 years ago had pocket screws and glue and some of them have racked a bit, but the 14 drawers I built with full dados this spring are dead square and rock solid, so now I can't decide if the extra setup time on every cabinet is worth it for the ones that never move anyway, what do you all do?
Keep dados for anything that holds weight, skip them on plain uppers if you ask me. Drawers and base boxes take the abuse, those are where square actually matters long term. Uppers just hang there so pocket screws and glue are plenty for me.
