Onsite screwup with a euro cylinder lock, how do you fix a misaligned catch?

Doing a kitchen install over in Arlington yesterday, all the cabinet doors were going on perfect until I hit the last bank of uppers. The catch on the far door was off by maybe 3 millimeters, just enough that it wouldn't close flush. I spent 20 minutes fiddling with the strike plate before I realized the whole door was hanging slightly crooked because the hinge screws were stripped in the particle board. Had to drill out the holes, glue in some dowels, and remount. It worked but added an extra 45 minutes to the job. Anyone else run into this on cheaper cabinets, and do you just predrill with a different bit from the start next time?

Got a euro cylinder that's off by that much, you're usually fighting the cabinet more than the lock, right? I always predrill those hinge holes with a slightly smaller bit and hit them with a little wood glue right from the get-go on any melamine or particle board job. Dowels are a classic fix, but if the catch is still riding weird after that, I'd shim the hinge side instead of messing with the strike plate again, saves you that extra 20 minutes.
