I bought a $400 pocket hole jig setup and hardly ever use it
Everyone says they're a must-have for quick casework, but I find the joints just don't hold up like proper dados or rabbets for real cabinets. It's been sitting in my shop for over a year now. What other 'essential' tools have you guys bought and regretted?

Disagree on the pocket holes. My Kreg jig gets used constantly for face frames and shop furniture. The key is using the right length screws and good glue. For me, the regret was a fancy biscuit joiner. Never got the hang of it, always seemed slower than just clamping.

My biscuit joiner is my most expensive paperweight.

Totally agree on the biscuit joiner, mine just collects dust now.
