Fancy shop in Charlotte made me ditch the high end hinges

We subbed a job for this custom place near South End and the owner showed me their production line. They use plain 3/4" ply with soft close and no fancy Blum hardware on anything. He said clients pick the countertop and paint, not the hinges. I always upsold the premium stuff but seeing the volume they push with basic parts got me rethinking my material list. Anyone else ditch the brand name stuff after seeing a bigger shop do it cheaper?

Funny, I hear you on the volume argument, but I still put decent hinges on every job. When a customer opens that cabinet door ten years from now, that's where they feel the quality, not the countertop edge. Cheap hardware saves you money upfront, but you end up chasing creaks and sagging doors down the road.
