DAE think mitered corners on face frames are a bad idea?

I tried them on a recent built-in and they opened up with the season change. Now I only use butt joints with biscuits for alignment. It might not look as sleek but it stays put. Saving myself the headache is worth the simple look.

My buddy did that on his kitchen cabinets. Every winter the gaps come back. Wood moves too much for fancy corners.

Learned that the hard way on my first 'fancy' bookshelf.

Ugh, tell me about it. I spent a whole weekend building this perfect mitered picture frame, so proud of how clean the corners looked. Fast forward a year, and every single joint has opened up like a little wooden smile. It's just sitting there now, quietly judging my lack of respect for wood movement. I feel your pain.
