A simple hand plane tune-up brought back the joy of smoothing boards.

I spent an afternoon getting my old hand plane sharp again. It reminded me how satisfying it is to feel the wood respond without any power tools buzzing.

Yeah, like once I finally got mine dead flat, it was a total game changer. I mean, the difference in how little effort it takes to push is crazy.

Oh man, getting that frog aligned right is everything... I spent forever on that before realizing it was throwing off my cuts. Once it's flat and tight, the shaving just flows out like a ribbon.

Everyone makes such a big deal about frog alignment. I've managed to get by without obsessing over it. The shavings come out okay even when it's not perfect. It's not like the world ends if it's off a little. People act like it's rocket science, but it's just woodworking.
