Warning: Those cheap desk mats on Amazon are ruining your mouse accuracy
I bought a 3-pack for $12 last month and my cursor was jumping all over the place during gaming. Turns out the surface texture is inconsistent, so after 10 minutes of use it gets these shiny spots where your wrist rests. Anyone else have trouble with their mouse tracking on those budget mats?

Yeah that shiny spot thing is exactly what happened to my buddy Mark. He got one of those cheap pink desk mats from some no-name seller on Amazon, thought it was a steal for like 8 bucks. After a week of using it for CS:GO his mouse would just randomly stop tracking or skip across the screen right when he was trying to flick shot someone. He finally figured out it was the mat getting slick where his palm rested, like the coating was wearing off in that one spot. We tried cleaning it with soap and water but that just made it worse, now it's got a permanent shiny patch that feels like plastic. Ended up throwing it in the trash and borrowing my old QcK pad until he bought a real one.

Dude that shiny spot thing is the worst. I bought a cheap mat for like $10 and within two weeks the whole center was a greasy mess. My mouse would just stop moving for a split second during intense fights, got me killed so many times in Valorant. Tried flipping it around but the shiny patch just moved to a new spot after a few days. Those cheap mats are literally just a layer of paint on top of rubber, soon as the coating wears down you're done. Better off spending $15 on a basic SteelSeries pad that actually lasts.
