Update: Thought I'd swap a faucet in an hour, took me 4 days instead
I decided to replace the kitchen faucet in my rental property last Saturday. The old one was a cheap builder grade that had been on there since 2009. Getting the old nuts off took 3 hours because they were rusted solid and the cabinet space was tiny. Then I found the supply lines were corroded and had to run to the hardware store twice for adapters. Anyone else have a "quick fix" turn into a whole weekend project?

My buddy tried to fix a leaky toilet flapper and ended up replacing the whole toilet and part of the bathroom floor. Took him a week and a half.

Did he actually need to replace the whole floor, or was that just an excuse to upgrade the bathroom while he was at it? I've known plenty of folks like @abby_wilson51's buddy who turn a simple fix into a major project because they want something nicer.

My brother did the SAME thing with a kitchen sink last summer.

Oh man, and once he started, he probably figured he might as well do the whole kitchen while he was at it. My neighbor did that with a dishwasher install. He pulled out the old one, saw a little bit of water damage on the subfloor, and before I knew it he was ripping up cabinets and laying new tile. Took him three weekends and he ended up painting the whole kitchen too. Said it was just easier to do it all at once, but I think he just wanted a new kitchen and used the dishwasher as his excuse.
