My buddy from work told me I was an idiot for spending $40 on a moisture meter for my houseplants
He laughed when I pulled it out to check my monstera, but then I found my fiddle leaf fig was sitting in soaking wet soil for 3 weeks and it perked right up after I let it dry out - has anyone else gotten roasted for a dumb tool that actually saved a plant?

$40 saved my calathea from my overwatering habit, honestly worth it.

My moisture meter was a game changer too but mostly because it finally proved to my husband that I wasn't just making up excuses for killing every plant I owned. Now I can show him the little needle pointing at "dry" like a smug plant detective at a crime scene. Forty bucks is steep but cheaper than replacing another crispy calathea that looked like it survived a desert apocalypse. I think mine was like $35 and it's paid for itself about five times over by now. Plus I get to feel all scientific poking it into the dirt like a mad botanist.
