My $40 desk lamp caught fire at 2am on Tuesday
I was just sitting there gaming and smelled something burning. Looked over and the lamp arm was literally smoking and melting. Threw it outside before it got worse. This was some generic LED lamp I got on Amazon last Black Friday. No brand name on it even. Scared the heck out of me. Has anyone else had cheap electronics like this just go bad randomly?

Amazon's actually had a recall on some of those generic LED lamps for exactly this reason. I'd check your orders and see if it matches the model number they listed. That 2am fire thing sounds TERRIFYING though, glad you caught it.

Scared the CRAP out of me just READING this. A lamp catching fire while you're gaming at 2am is some final destination type stuff. I agree with @felixfisher, I'd look up that recall ASAP because Amazon's warehouse is basically a landfill for cheap electronics with zero safety testing. I bought a similar looking LED lamp last year and now I'm paranoid it's gonna melt on my desk any second. Glad you threw it outside in time, that's quick thinking.
