Hot take: Those expensive wool dryer balls are a total gimmick
Picked up a set from some Etsy shop for $28 last month. They claim to cut drying time by 30 percent. Ran five loads with them, five loads without. Noticed maybe a 5 minute difference on jeans. My $3 tennis balls from the dollar store did the same thing. Anyone else get suckered into this?

The real trick nobody talks about is that those wool balls can actually harbor dust mites over time if you don't dry them on high heat between loads. I tossed mine in the washer by accident once and they came out felted into one giant ball that barely bounced. Tennis balls at least you can see when they are wearing out and just replace them for pocket change. The wool ball sellers really leaned into the "natural" marketing angle hard.

Bought the same ones. 28 bucks for wool balls that smell like wet sheep. Tennis balls work just as good for a fraction of the cost and my clothes don't feel like they are hugging me afterward. Did you try the tennis balls yet?
