Can we talk about that moment your drill battery dies mid-project

I was about halfway through building a deck in my backyard in Portland last summer. Hit a tricky angle on the last board, and my 18V battery just gave up completely. No spare, no corded backup, just me standing there with a half-drilled screw. Had to run to the hardware store down the street and grab a new one for $50. Honestly, the wait killed my whole momentum for the day. Anyone else ever get stuck like that and find a better way to handle it?

Is it really that deep though... like you had to wait a couple hours to finish a deck, big deal. People act like the battery dying is some kind of tragedy, just take a break and grab some lunch.

Grabbed my impact driver from the car and used that for the rest of the day since it barely sips battery compared to my regular drill. Now I always keep a couple spare batteries charging before I start anything bigger than changing a light fixture. Saves me running to the store and keeps the momentum going way better.

Is it just me or does that drill battery always know exactly when to die? Like it has a sixth sense for the most inconvenient moment possible (they're probably conspiring in the tool bag at night, honestly). I've got a system now where I keep two extra batteries on the charger before I even start, and I still manage to run out sometimes. My personal record is killing three batteries in one afternoon trying to screw in a stubborn fence post - I just stood there laughing at myself for a solid minute before giving up and going inside. The worst part is when you've got that momentum going, the rhythm of the work, and then it's just dead silence and a useless tool in your hand. Makes you want to throw the whole thing in the trash, but then you remember you paid $80 for that drill and you just sigh instead.
