Walked into a shop in Amarillo and saw a 60 year old band saw still humming along
Was driving through the panhandle and stopped at a small butcher shop off Route 66 in Amarillo just to grab some jerky. The owner showed me his old Hobart band saw and said it's been running since 1963, only ever needed new blades and one motor rebuild. Made me think about how much of my own gear I've swapped out over the years just because something newer came along. Anyone else still running old equipment that refuses to die?
That line about gear you swapped out just because something newer came along really hits home. My granddad's old Craftsman drill press is still going and I almost got rid of it twice for some shiny thing at a big box store. Glad I didn't, that old stuff just keeps on working.
