Took a chance on a $400 vacuum sealer at the shop and it already paid for itself

I picked up a chamber sealer off Craigslist last month after getting tired of losing trim to freezer burn with my old clamp style. It's been a game changer for vac packing my pork shoulders and bacon slabs when things get slow. Anyone else make a splurge purchase that worked out way better than you expected?

That $80 on my chamber sealer, I snagged it for $80 not $400, so I feel like I'm way ahead of the game compared to that shop price. I mean, your friend's dehydrator story is pretty relatable though. It took me like three weeks to even unbox my sealer because I was worried I'd wasted money on something I didn't really need. But once I got it going with some pork shoulders from a big sale, it was like everything clicked. Maybe it's just me but sometimes the best gear is the stuff you almost talked yourself out of buying.

My buddy dropped serious cash on a high end dehydrator and it sat in his garage for six months before he even opened the box. Now he's cranking out jerky like it's his second job and giving bags to everyone he meets. Funny how the stuff you think will be a waste sometimes ends up being the best purchase.

Does he ever sleep, or is he just powered by beef at this point? I totally get what your buddy went through though, my air fryer sat in the box for like four months before I finally plugged it in. Now I use that thing almost every single day and I'm honestly mad at myself for waiting so long. It's wild how some purchases just need the right moment to click, even if they seem like a dumb idea at first. Good for him for finally diving in and making it work, free jerky is a pretty solid win for everyone involved.
