Spent 3 hours trying to fix a band saw blade that kept slipping
I was breaking down a side of beef yesterday and my band saw blade kept wandering off the wheels no matter what I did. Turned out I had the tension way too loose because I was in a hurry and didn't check the gauge. Anyone else ever chase a simple adjustment for way longer than you'd care to admit?

Man, did I tune my saw to the sound of a dying cat or what? I spent a solid two hours chasing a wobbly blade once, cranked the tension up and down so many times I probably loosened the whole frame. Finally gave up, grabbed a beer, came back the next morning and realized I forgot to tighten the wheel locking nut. Felt like a total dumbass but hey, at least the beer was cold.

Wendy, did you just change my whole outlook on saw tuning? Because yeah, guilty as charged.

God, the "cranked the tension up and down" part hits way too close to home. I did almost the exact same thing with a table saw fence once - spent like four hours adjusting it, checking with a square, adjusting again, getting more pissed off. Finally found out the locking mechanism had a tiny burr on it from when I dropped it moving shops. A little file work and it was fine. I mean, the whole time I was blaming myself for not knowing how to set up a saw properly. Idk why we always assume it's something we did wrong instead of just a dumb mechanical glitch. But yeah, that beer the next morning probably tasted like victory even if the blade was still a mess.
