Old band saw finally gave up the ghost on me yesterday
That 1950s Hobart I inherited from my uncle just seized up mid-cut on a pork shoulder. Had to hand-saw the rest of the order and it took me an extra hour. Anyone else running vintage gear that's hanging on by a thread?

You tried running it through a big piece of pork with the blade still cold, right? That's what killed my old Delta. If you gotta cut something thick or frozen, let the saw run for a minute first so the blade warms up a bit. Also check if the belt is slipping under load, mine would do that and sound like it seized up. Could just be the tension needs a tweak, not the end of the road. I've been there with the hand sawing, it's brutal on the shoulders. Before you scrap it, try a fresh blade and some belt dressing.

Hang onto it for a bit longer. I've noticed the stuff that's closest to dying often just needs one small fix you haven't thought of yet.

Shook my head when I read that, @morgan_ramirez. I never even thought about the blade being too cold, that's wild. You really think belt dressing could bring an old saw back?
