Had a customer ask me to debone a chicken while it was still frozen solid

Guy walked in last Tuesday with a whole frozen bird and said he needed it cut into parts for dinner that night. I told him he'd have better luck using a chainsaw than my boning knife, and he just stared at me like I was the unreasonable one.

A chainsaw would've been more reasonable than trying to debone a frozen solid chicken, honestly. Did he expect you to thaw it with your mind or just start hacking at it with a hammer?

I used to be the guy who'd say "just hack at it, it'll thaw eventually." But after one time trying to cut a rock-solid turkey with a cleaver, I get it now. Nearly took off a finger and the blade just bounced off. Your husband learned that lesson the hard way.
