Why does nobody talk about static IP pricing differences
I spent 6 years just paying whatever my ISP charged for a static IP add on. Around $45 a month extra in Tampa. Then I moved offices and the new local provider quoted me $15. Same city, same type of business line, same static IP setup. I asked my old rep about it and he said they just never updated their rate sheet. That got me checking other vendors and honestly it felt like buying a house, every quote was different by a wide margin. Now I make it a point to ask for itemized pricing before signing anything. Has anyone else found wild price swings on something as basic as a static IP? What are you paying these days?
Man, a buddy of mine ran into the exact same thing last year. He had a small shop in Phoenix and was paying $40 a month for one static IP, just accepted it because it came bundled with his plan. His neighbor ran a similar business two blocks over and was paying $10 for the same thing from a different carrier. When he called to ask about it, the rep acted like he was crazy for even asking. He ended up switching providers and saved over $300 a year on that one line item alone. The whole thing is a racket, they charge whatever they think you will pay and hope you never shop around.
