My IT guy told me to upgrade our shop's router for $300, and I told him he was crazy
We run a small print shop in Boise with four computers and a card machine, and our internet kept dropping right when customers were paying. My IT guy kept saying the old router was the problem, but I figured he just wanted to sell me something. I finally caved and spent $300 on a business router with QoS settings, and the difference was instant, no more dropped card payments during the lunch rush. Now I feel dumb for arguing with him for two months over a router that cost less than one lost sale. Has anyone else had their IT person be right about something you swore wasn't the issue?
Two months of arguing over a $300 router is wild, but I get it. We had a credit card machine that would just freeze up on us, and the phone company kept saying it was our end. Turns out the modem was from 2009 and couldn't handle more than two devices at once. I fought that guy for a week before I finally let him swap it out, and suddenly everything worked fine. Makes you wonder how many sales you lost before you caved.
