That faded "COEXIST" sticker hid a crack in my bumper for 8 months
I left an old COEXIST sticker on the back of my Corolla for so long that when I finally peeled it off last Tuesday, it took the paint with it and left a rust spot the size of a quarter. I spent $140 at a body place over on Grand Ave to fix it, when a $3 bottle of Goo Gone and 10 minutes when I first stuck it on would've saved me. Nobody warns you that the sun bakes those cheap decals right into the clear coat. Has anyone else peeled one of these off after a couple summers and had the paint come with it?
Did you at least get the bumper fixed before the rust spread, or is it already too late? I ask because I did the same dumb thing with a "Baby On Board" sign my wife stuck on our van in 2019. Left it through three Arizona summers, and when I finally pulled it off last spring the whole corner came up like a scab. I tried to tell myself it added character, but my kid said it looked like the van had a disease, so I caved and paid a guy $90 to sand it down. Now I just leave everything in the glove box where the sun can't ruin my bad decisions.
