Talked to an old biker about his bumper stickers last week

Saw a guy at the gas station with a bunch of faded stickers on his Harley. One said "Vietnam Vet" and another said "If you can read this, thank a teacher." He told me he put them on in 1985 and never took them off. Said they remind him of who he was, not just where he's been. Got me thinking, do my stickers even say anything real about me or are they just jokes I thought were clever at the time?

Respectfully push back on that one. I get the sentimental value, but I think a sticker can be both a real part of you AND a joke you found funny. In my experience, even the silly ones say something true. Like, if you slapped a "I brake for yard sales" sticker on your car, that's not deep, but it shows you're the kind of person who stops for random stuff and maybe makes a day out of it. That's still a part of who you are, just a lighter one. I don't think every sticker needs to be a heavy life statement to mean something. Sometimes the jokes are just as real as the serious ones, your mileage may vary though.
