Saw a van with 500,000 miles on the odometer bumper sticker that said 'Still runs better than my marriage' and I had to pull over I was laughing so hard

I snapped a photo and showed my buddy who rebuilds transmissions and he said the real surprise is that someone actually reached a half-million miles on a Dodge Caravan of all things, have you ever seen a mileage claim that made you stop and stare?

Devil's advocate here - that transmission buddy probably sees more broken vans than running ones, so of course he's shocked. But 500,000 miles is nothing special if you actually keep up with oil changes and basic maintenance. My neighbor's old Ford Taurus hit 600k before he sold it, and that thing was a rental car in a past life. Low mileage just means someone gave up early or couldn't afford to fix little stuff along the way.

And @laura189, what kind of oil was your neighbor using, synthetic or conventional? I'm genuinely curious if there's a secret sauce to getting rentals to run forever or if it's just luck of the draw on the assembly line.
