Why I almost quit my journal after a brutal Tuesday in El Paso

Tuesday was the worst day I have had with my bullet journal since I started it back in March. I spent 40 minutes setting up a perfect weekly spread with colors and washi tape, then my truck broke down outside El Paso and I was stranded for nine hours. I had no working pen because I left it in the cab, and my journal was stuck under a heavy box in the trailer. When I finally got back to it that night, I realized my whole schedule was useless because every time block I drew was based on a delivery that never happened. I almost threw the thing in a dumpster, but instead I just crossed out the entire spread and wrote "start over" in big letters. Has anyone else had a day where your layout fights you instead of helping you, and did you go simpler after that? I still battle between making it pretty and making it practical.

Did you end up keeping the journal after that, or did that cross-out actually save it for you? I get the pretty versus practical pull, man. I had a similar day where I spent an hour drawing a fancy weather tracker and then missed a whole appointment because I never wrote it down. I stopped doing color spreads after that, just black pen and basic lines, and it honestly works better for me now.
