The $35 washi tape set that nearly ruined my monthly spread

Bought a cheap 12-pack online last month because the colors looked perfect in the photos, but the adhesive left sticky residue all over my pages and now I'm scraping it off with a razor, has anyone else been burned by budget washi or am I just cursed?
