Showerthought: I keep seeing people track habits with a simple checkmark and it misses the whole point.

What exactly is the whole point they're missing? A checkmark just shows you did the thing, but it doesn't say anything about how it felt or if it was actually good. Tracking should be about the quality of the habit, not just a binary yes or no. If you just check a box, you could have a terrible workout and still mark it done. That seems like it would teach you the wrong lesson over time.

That "binary yes or no" is how we treat everything now.

Exactly! I used to just check off "gym" and call it a day, even on days I totally half-assed it. Now I jot a quick note like "felt slow, skipped legs" or "great energy, pushed hard." That tiny bit of context when I look back shows me what actually works versus what just fills a box. It turns a useless check into real data you can learn from.
