Showerthought: I found my first bullet journal from 2019 in a box.

It was a cheap notebook from a store in Phoenix, and all I had was a black pen. I opened it last week and saw pages of messy, fast notes about work calls and grocery lists. Now my current journal has color codes, a habit tracker, and a page for garden plans. Has anyone else looked back at their old, simple setup and been surprised by how much it changed?

Yeah, the "messy, fast notes" part really got me. I read this blog post once about how these systems always start as just a tool to get stuff out of your head. Then, without you even noticing, it becomes this whole project of its own. My own notes from a few years back are just scribbled on scrap paper, and now I've got separate notebooks for different things. It's funny how that happens.

My own note system, @danielw88, went through that exact same change.

That part about it becoming a whole project is so true. I started with a tiny notebook for work stuff. Now I have a whole drawer with different ones for recipes, house projects, and even one just for tracking shows I want to watch. It's like the system needs its own system after a while.
