My bullet journal used to be a full time art project

I spent hours every week on fancy spreads and lettering, but after a busy summer of back to back jobs, I realized I was avoiding opening it. Now I just use a black pen and a ruler, and I actually check my tasks. Anyone else ditch the decoration to make their journal work for them?

Ever notice how everything gets overcomplicated? Happens with apps, cooking, even hobbies. The simple version usually works better.

My old coffee maker had one switch and made great coffee. Now my new one has a touchscreen and five settings, but the coffee tastes the same. I mean, my kid's toy came with a 12-page manual for a stuffed bear. It feels like companies are just adding stuff to seem new, not to actually work better.
