My bullet journal used to be a full time art project

I spent hours every week on fancy spreads and lettering, but after a busy summer of back to back jobs, I realized I was avoiding opening it. Now I just use a black pen and a ruler, and I actually check my tasks. Anyone else ditch the decoration to make their journal work for them?

Ever notice how everything gets overcomplicated? Happens with apps, cooking, even hobbies. The simple version usually works better.
