I finally figured out why my monthly log was stressing me out
So I was watching a video from some bullet journaling blogger and she said something like "your monthly log should be a quick reference, not a to-do list." That hit me hard because my monthly log was like 4 pages long with all these tasks I never did. I realized I was trying to cram every single thing I wanted to do that month into one spread and it just made me feel bad about myself. Now I keep my monthly log super simple with just appointments, deadlines, and big events. Then I moved all the little daily tasks to my daily logs where they actually belong. Has anyone else found themselves overcomplicating their monthly spread and had to scale it back?

Oh come on. It's a monthly log. You're acting like you discovered the secret to world peace or something. It's just a list. If it stresses you out that much maybe you need a therapist, not a different kind of notebook. Bullet journaling bloggers love to act like they're dropping profound wisdom but it's literally just about where you write down your appointments. I've been using the same messy system for years and my life is fine. People get way too wrapped up in these "hacks" like rearranging your to-do list is going to fix your problems. Just write stuff down however works for you and move on.

@the_margaret I read somewhere that bullet journaling started out as just a way to track stuff, not make art or life philosophy. Makes sense why people get stressed trying to copy the fancy spreads online. My sister tried that whole system with the gorgeous layouts and color coding, then gave up after two weeks because it felt like homework. She just uses a basic planner now, writes down her appointments in the margins, and says it works better for her. Different strokes, I guess.
