I laughed at the guy sleeping in airport terminals until I tried it myself

Back in 2019 my buddy swore he saved $400 on a trip to Chicago by crashing at O'Hare instead of getting a hotel. I thought he was nuts. Then last year my flight got delayed at 11pm and I had nowhere to go. I found a quiet gate near baggage claim with bench seats that had no armrests. Used my backpack as a pillow and a hoodie as a blanket. Woke up at 5am feeling okay and saved myself $80 on a random motel. Has anyone else found a decent sleep spot at a specific airport that actually works?

My mate Tom did something similar but way more extreme. He missed his connecting flight in Denver once and ended up sleeping on the floor near the food court. He said he found this weird little nook behind a pillar where the cleaning crew didn't bother him and the floor was actually heated. Woke up with a dead phone and a weird smell on his jacket but he saved like $150 and saw a cool sunrise over the runway. He still talks about it like it's this great life hack, even though his back hurt for a week after.

Heated floors? That's wild, I never knew they did that.

Whoa hold on, the floor in the food court was actually heated?! That's honestly the wildest part of this whole story to me. I've never even thought about airport floors being warm, let alone finding a spot to sleep on one like it's a feature.
