The leftover rice comment from my sister changed how I meal plan

My sister visited last month and watched me toss out a container of week old rice. She said 'you're throwing away money, not food' and it hit me different. I started batch cooking rice in smaller portions and freezing half of it in sandwich bags. That one habit cut my grocery waste down by about $18 a week, which adds up to over $900 a year. Anyone else have a family member point out something obvious you were totally missing?

Freezing leftovers in single servings is the real game changer.
