The $2 canned cheese sauce that ruined my grocery store trip

I bought that cheap canned cheese sauce at the Piggly Wiggly in Spartanburg last Thursday thinking it would stretch my mac and cheese budget. Halfway through dinner my whole family got that weird metallic aftertaste and I had to toss the entire pot of pasta. Has anyone else had a brand surprise them like that and now you check the ingredient list on everything?

The metallic taste is the worst, it lingers on your tongue for hours. I had the same thing happen with a store brand nacho cheese dip last summer, and it ruined movie night for everyone. Now I sniff the can before I buy it, which sounds crazy but it works. Literally checking every label for "modified food starch" now, that stuff is in everything. Lesson learned the hard way, cheap is only cheap if you actually eat it.
