Stop putting chicken breast in everything and expect it to be cheap.

I keep seeing posts about budget meals and it's all chicken breast recipes. Chicken breast near me in Portland is $4.99 a pound now. That's not budget friendly. I buy whole chickens for $1.49 a pound and break them down myself. You get legs, thighs, wings, and the carcass for stock. That one bird gives me 3 meals and a soup base. Chicken breast is the most expensive part of the bird. Why are people treating it like the default cheap protein? Is anyone else buying whole chickens or thighs instead and noticing a big difference in your grocery bill?

Seriously, I made the same switch and it's crazy how much more you get from a whole bird. Thighs are way tastier too, never going back.
